On March 27, while he was door-to-door campaigning in a Kensington neighborhood, he "had to take a leak." This lead to his arrest.
Two women say they saw Hartley, 65, urinate into a cup in his truck and then place a T-shirt over his lap and masturbate. They called the cops and Hartley was arrested. He pleaded no contest to misdemeanor lewdness. He does not have to register as a sex offender, but his sentence is a fine of $500 and being placed on three years' probation. He has also lost his job as a San Diego Unified School District substitute teacher.Hartley sent out a mailer on April 15. He said that he apologizes, he made a mistake and "It all started because I had to take a leak." He claims that the women made a mistake about his gestures, because he said all he was doing was making sure he wouldn't soil his pants- not masturbate.
He served on the San Diego City Council from 1989 to 1993. The election is June 3.
I wonder:
Will people vote for a man who can't even be a substitute teacher?
Could two women really make that big of a mistake about what they saw?
Did Hartley receive special treatment from the law enforcement and court?
Would you vote for him?
Will he ever work in politics again?
Is it that hard to go drive to a bathroom?

2. Those women made no mistake in what they saw. Have you seen where it happened, it's like seeing someone do that just on the other side of the room, 17 feet away. Plus the house is higher than the street giving a direct view of Mr. Hartleys lap. Check channel 10 video from last week.
3. The city attorney, Mr. Aguirre (who Hartley is a public supporter of) cut Hartley a deal, and it is despicable. Aguirre should be investigated too. The police did a great job, even collected Hartley's DNA on his white t shirt (aka cum towel) No wonder Mr. Hartley pled out so the evidence wouldn't become public
4. I would NEVER vote for him and am appauled that he has the nerve to continue running. What a joke.
5. He should NEVER work in politics again, by his statements since his plea bargain, he has proven he is a liar.
6. Um do you know the area, there are more than 10 public bathrooms within 1 block of where he was arrested. PLUS after he peed in a cup, he threw it out of him window onto the street, groos NO CLASS
